The last four weeks have been miserable. Not only did I get "dinged" 9 times in a row and miss both the Church Street Reunion at Love and the Stadenco's opener at Pacha NYC, but the Chicago winter has finally arrived (and I don't like it one bit!). I was slowly fading into a deep dark purple depression and knew that SOMETHING had to be done to shake the funk! And thank God somebody at SAW Recordings answered my prayers and sent HECTOR ROMERO to Sound-Bar to save me! Dinner with 20 friends + multiple pitchers of sangria + a bottle of Ciroc + a night of sweat-infused beats was exactly what I needed. We had a nice little crew roll downtown for the party - we walked in well-dressed and dry and left disheveled and sopping wet - what a great night! It was so good in fact, Ben kissed Blee (above) and Melissa and Beth worked the go-go platform like they were hoping for a summer internship offer! Unfortunately, the girls weren't THAT GOOD and wound up getting "dinged" by the club. However, the Ben and Blee thing worked out really well. J/K. Despite dancing like a fool over the weekend, the "dings" just kept on coming the next week... until Friday, when the streak ended just shy of double-digits. WOOT. All of the sudden I was dancing around like it was 1993 and I was CeCe Penniston ... "Finally!" The defining moment was in the auditorium at school when all my friends erupted into applause at the news of my offer. I felt so loved and so pathetic all at once... but most importantly, I felt EMPLOYED! Oh yeah! I hung out all weekend in my pajamas avoiding the cold and saving up for the big night out on Sunday. Yup, Sunday... just like the old days in NYC baby! The stars must've been aligned because that night, Crobar Chicago had Victor Calderone, the man who can make me dance like no one else on earth!
11 of us cruised down to the club and werked that dance floor all night long! It was a great party - high energy right from the start and to my surprise, Victor played a few of my favorite tracks early on in the night (I didn't have to wait to some ungodly hour to hear them, as I would have in NYC). There was an appearance by the Blue Man Group, which was a blast and the staff at Crobar kept the crowd in it by mixing up the lights, effects and props throughout the night. They even let me get in the booth with Victor, which also made me very happy (-: The night finished with a crew of six and an oh-so-bad-but-necessary trip to McDonalds. I slept for a few hours... got up for an interview and got the week started off "ding-free" for once. However, the REALLY GOOD NEWS came Tuesday when I got an offer from my top choice and the "dings" were washed away forever. And, I know what you're thinking... that requires a celebration! Yes it does! An encore this weekend? You know it baby... Junior on Sunday!
And for those on the east coast... don't worry the CHIEF OF STAFF will be back in NYC all summer long!
