Matthew Dear & Ambivalent @ American Museum of Natural History (4/25/08)

If Thursday was all about tequila then Friday was all about outer space. Shirley was in town from Tel Aviv so the crew gathered at The Rose Center for Earth and Space to catch Matthew Dear and Ambivalent play DJ sets in an intergalactic planetary environment. The crowd was pretty diverse - some music heads, some wine and cheese peeps, a smattering of randoms - which made for a very different vibe then your usual EDM party. Kevin (Ambivalent) played a really great 2.5hr opening set of funky nuggets that provided a nice energy. Matthew Dear's set was up and down but was definitely enough to keep us moving. At one point we even convinced a few people from each of the above mentioned groups to get funky in our dance circle in the back of the room. Led by "freak-out" All-Stars, Saisha and Colleen, we both entertained and scared at least 50% of event attendees. Matthew definitely finished on a high note playing a recent fave track of mine which has some THICK BOOTY BASS that makes me want to start grabbin shit! A few snaps c/o Colleen and Flavorpill below...
